Ankole cattle are a traditional breed from Eastern Africa and have a high level of resilience to rangeland conditions, especially tolerance of droughts. However, they produce less milk than exotic breeds so increased demands from society, expansion of crop lands and expansion of urban areas all pose risks to this breed.
