The Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) will take part in the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to be held 17-28 August 2026 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, under the theme "Restore the Land. Restore Hope."
CILSS will bring a clear ambition to the event: to share its expertise and strengthen partnerships in favour of ecosystem restoration and sustainable transformation of pastoral and agropastoral systems in West Africa and the Sahel.
In collaboration with its partners, including the World Bank and the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW), CILSS will organise two strategically significant side events:

CILSS's agenda at COP17 also includes high-level meetings on sustainable development, co-hosting of several side events, and a documentary exhibition showcasing its services and achievements.
