In alignment with Decision 29/COP.16 of the UNCCD and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP), the WFF Youth Policy Board and the IYRP Youth Working Group are developing a Global Youth Policy Brief on Youth and Young Women in Pastoralism.
To ensure that this policy brief is grounded in diverse youth perspectives and experiences, this global webinar will be convened ahead of its official launch at UNCCD COP17 in Mongolia. This webinar will serve as platforms for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and co-creation among pastoralist youth, researchers, and experts.
Importantly, this process is informed by youth-led evidence. The thematic priorities and discussions are guided by insights generated through the Global Survey on “Young Women and Youth in Pastoralism and Rangelands: A Global Survey to Inform UNCCD COP17 and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists,” launched in April 2026 by the WFF Youth Policy Board and the IYRP Youth Working Group. The survey captures diverse perspectives, experiences, and priorities of pastoralist youth and young women across regions, ensuring that the policy recommendations reflect real lived experiences and emerging global priorities.
The webinar will feature:
- Expert presentations;
- Pastoralist youth testimonies ;
- Interactive breakout discussions;
- Collaborative development of recommendations for the Global Youth Policy Brief.
We warmly invite all Youth Working Group members, partners, and networks to participate and contribute their perspectives. We also encourage you to share this invitation and the attached promotional materials widely within your organizations, communities, and social media platforms.
Lets ensure that the voices of pastoralist youth and young women are heard and reflected in global policy processes such as UNCCD COP17 and among others.
We look forward to your participation.
