IYRP 2026 Familiarisation Workshop in Addis Ababa

Between 23–24 January, Tezera Getahun, WAMIP Regional Coordinator for East and Southern Africa and Executive Director of the Pastoralist Forum Ethiopia, co-hosted the IYRP 2026 Familiarisation Workshop in Addis Ababa. The workshop focused on building awareness of IYRP, drawing lessons for Ethiopian rangelands and pastoralists, recommending future directions, and proposing actions ahead of the Global Gathering in Mongolia this August. Representation of Ethiopian pastoralists, including Afar, Oromo, and Somali communities, remains especially important, as they manage nearly 60% of the country’s land.
