Near-natural pasture landscapes and their potential for climate protection and water management: Symposium

The symposium will be simultaneously translated into German and English. The event is being organised - alongside the Brandenburg Academy - by Deutsche Umwelthilfe e. V. (DUH). We are seizing the opportunity presented by the United Nations' designation of 2026 as the 'International Year of Pastoralism and Pastoral Landscapes' to highlight the important role that near-natural pasture landscapes play in providing vital ecosystem services, particularly with regard to climate protection and landscape water management. Our symposium will feature insights from experts in the field. It will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, experience, and strategies to promote near-natural grazing and achieve goals relating to nature conservation and natural climate protection. The conference is particularly aimed at employees of nature conservation, water, agriculture and forestry authorities, as well as land users, conservationists, landscape planners, scientists, government employees at all administrative levels, political representatives and anyone interested in the topic.  Registration form attached.
