A regional workshop on "Nomadic Pastoralism" will be held in Batman Province, Türkiye, on 7-10 April 2026 under the auspices of the Batman Governorate and coordinated by the Batman Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. The workshop aims to assess the current situation of nomadic pastoralism, discuss the challenges faced by pastoralist communities, and identify potential policy and practical solutions.
The workshop will bring together the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, nomadic pastoralists themselves, representatives of relevant public authorities from 16 provinces in the region, as well as representatives of relevant ministries, public institutions, non-governmental organisations and international organisations.
The workshop will also serve as the official launch of the UN International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) in Türkiye, in response to the UN General Assembly Resolution 76/253 of 17 March 2022, which invites all Member States to observe the International Year through relevant activities. In this context, we would be honoured by your participation in the workshop and the official launch of the IYRP.
