PastureScapes IYRP2026 event: "The shepherdess of the glaciers"

With the personal consent of the filmmakers Stanzin Dorjai Gya and Christiana Mordelet, PastureScapes (University of Kassel) presents "The Shepherdess of the Glaciers", a documentary about the shepherdess Tesring, sister of Stanzin. The documentary takes us to a high‑altitude pastoral system managed by a woman herder on her own under extreme social-ecological conditions. We learn about herd management shaped by terrain, forage scarcity and predator threats, and appreciate the hard work, vast knowledge and adaptive management decisions on remote Himalayan rangelands.
