PastureScapes Event 2: Buffalo in Canada's Prairies (2026 International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists event series)

The second PastureScapes event will meet again in the Kleine Aula on Monday, December 8th, starting at 6:00 pm, to spend an evening on the prairie in my home country of Canada with Tasha Hubbard's most recent project, Singing Back the Buffalo. This beautifully-filmed documentary follows North America's original ruminants, the American Buffalo (Bison), on their seasonal journey over the plains, weaving in their story and the story of indigenous efforts to restore the buffalo following their near extinction in the late 19th century. The documentary will be followed by a panelist discussion with representatives from the Mistawasis Nêhiyawak First Nation, the Canadian Bison Association, and the International Buffalo Relations Institute - we're very excited to have these important voices come together for this event.
